Why choose desire fitness instead of a 'regular' gym?
This is a very good question. Here is a list of comparisons between the no-contract, pay as you go model that Desire Fitness uses, and the traditional model that gyms use.
Desire Fitness
Other Gyms
Pay as you go pricing structure – only pay for the services and products that you want, when you want them.
We don’t use any long-term contracts at Desire Fitness. We understand that people don’t have a crystal ball to map out exactly how their lives are going to be for up to 3 years ahead! The longest programmes are 6 months.
This also means that we have to provide you with THE BEST service and results possible. Otherwise why would you stick with us?
If you want to leave before you achieve your fitness goals then that is your choice. Here at Desire Fitness we only want to work with dedicated, committed people. We will do everything we can to help you if you are ready to make a commitment to helping yourself. We shouldn’t have to ‘lock you in’ to make you stay.
You sign up on a contract for up to 36months! The standard membership length tends to be 12months. You can pay this as a lump sum or as a monthly payment.
You could be paying over $20 per week, for as long as your contract is for! Even if you don’t use any of the classes, even if you STOP GOING to the gym!
There really is no way to get out of gym contracts except for dying or transferring your membership. If you have to cancel before your time is up, you may have to pay a big cancellation fee, or even the total remaining sum of your membership which could be $100s or even $1000s of dollars!
You only pay for the stuff you want to do, when you want to do it.
You have to pay a share of everything the gym offers - as part of your membership fee, even if you never go to that spin class or use the basketball court.
We are constantly adding new classes, seminars and services to our timetable. If you want it, we can probably add it.
May or may not add new classes and services. Often gyms will just keep the timetable as is for as long as possible. Gyms are also limited by how much free time and space they have.
We are family friendly. If you need to bring your baby or child along because you couldn’t find a sitter, that’s totally fine. All we ask is that you stay responsible for your children and that they do not disrupt everyone else. Older children are more than welcome to come along and do the classes with us!
This can be a real blessing for new mums who want to get out and get exercising, but who don’t always have someone to take care of baby.
We are not affected by the childcare legislation that has affected many gyms because we do not offer childcare – you have your children with you and you remain responsible for them. This allows us to be family friendly at no extra cost to you!
Some gyms may have a crèche, but you can’t have your baby with you. Crèches also don’t usually provide care for children once they reach school age. Some local gyms have been unable to afford to offer crèches, given the current legislation around childcare provision.
