Eating Disorder Support
Sam works with people who are struggling with eating disorders and their families. Originally this took the form of a support group, but Sam now works one-on-one with people. She does help people connect with each other by facilitating meetings and keeping contact info, and puts supporters and family members in touch with others so they can discuss their struggles together. Caution has to be exercised with support groups for insiders (those who are struggling with eating disorders) as sometimes these can make an insider's struggle harder. Working with insiders one-on-one gives Sam the ability to always help rather than hinder their progress.
Sam works to promote the interests of those with eating disorders and their families. She has herself suffered from disordered eating as a teenager and is outraged by the lack of support or funding available for the care, support and treatment of people who are experiencing problems. Sam holds public education meetings on the subject of eating disorders, and is available to speak to community groups and schools on request. Contact Sam for further informaton |
